Thank you!

I haven’t posted in a while, but if you’re reading this, thank you for checkin in!

I’m a huge fan of snail mail.  Unfortunately, since much of the world relies on the internet, texting and video chats for nearly all forms of communication, our mailboxes are typically only filled with bills, magazines and “junk mail”.

I cherish the joy of going to the mailbox each day in December to find Christmas cards, but each year, fewer and fewer arrive.  When is the last time your mailbox contained a personal letter, card or note?

Since snail mail has become a rare surprise, rather than an expectation,
it’s become even more meaningful.
Shouldn’t saying “thank you” be meaningful?
So to say thank you, snail mail all the way, to make someones day.
(Then again, that’s just my opinion, because I can’t image a year not sending Christmas or Birthday cards to close family & friends).

If you’re into stationary trends (be it cards, invitations, return address labels, personalized note pads & notebooks), hopefully you signed up for a Tiny Prints account at one point or another.  If you did, there’s good news – so check your mailbox!

Tiny Prints and Shutterfly have now collaborated into one website – it does not change any of your log-in information, instead, it just links the accounts!
To advertise this new joint venture, they sent out cards (yippie, snail mail!) and a follow-up e-mail with an amazing coupon code to account holders.  10 FREE THANK YOU NOTES, PLUS FREE SHIPPING!  Typically, you end up paying shipping with their free-item promos, so this deal really goes above and beyond.

The promotion even included foil stamped thank you notes (for instance, the design I chose retails for $3.14 per card!), and each design allows you to personalize with a name if that suits your fancy!  I am so excited for my personalized thank you notes to arrive in the mail! Even though I love paper-crafting and card making, sometimes it’s helpful to have some pre-made and ready to go!

The deal expires July 31st, so if you received a coupon code, do NOT let this one pass you by.  You’ll thank yourself later!  My order would have totaled $36.39, but it was completely FREE!

‘Till next time, THANKS for reading!

Key to Coupons: Combine, Combine, Combine!

It’s been way too long since my last post.  Not because I haven’t found any deals, I just haven’t had the time to write about them!  Work, wedding planning and chores have taken over – but it’s my new goal to write more often!

While deciding which awesome deals to blog about, a few in particular come to mind: stocking up on next years Christmas cards for 70% off at Papyrus, the pants I purchased at Nordstrom Rack for more than 90% off, and the beautiful J.Crew beach cover-up I I purchsaed at TJMaxx for 92% off.  (OKAY, Maybe I’ll have to add more posts about those deals too…)  But I really wanted to tell you about my most recent deal:
A Photo Guestbook from Shutterfly.

Weddings can be expensive, the little things add up quickly.  So, saving money where possible can be very helpful.  There are so many new guestbook alternatives on Pinterest… the family “tree”, the polaroid camera book, the pottery plate with signatures, ect.  While those ideas are great, they weren’t for me.  I wanted something classic, but not something boring.  I decided on a guestbook with photos!  I was able to incorporate my engagement photos into a beautiful hard cover book, with lay-flat pages, and plenty of lines for guests to leave notes for us! How much does something like that run? $120.99 on Shutterfly.

Shutterfly is one of the few websites that lets you combine coupons and codes – as many as you’d like!!!  Jo-Ann Fabrics had sent me a code for $20 off of ANY purchase.  Shutterfly also had a Buy-More-Save-More promotion (WithLuv).  Since my purchase was over $100, that meant I got 50% off! There was ALSO a code (SHIP39) for free shipping (that’s a $12 savings).  After applying all of my promo-codes and adding tax, my balance came to $54 and change.  Hm… time to use that CASHBACK BONUS from Discover!! I traded in $40 of my Cashback Bonus to receive a $50 E-Giftcard to Shutterfly.  So, after applying my giftcard, my total was LESS THAN $5! I am so excited to see how it comes out!

After my order, they even sent me another coupon for my next purchase!

Want a deal yourself? If you use the Shutterfly App on your phone, there is an offer for UNLIMITED free 4×6 or 4×4 prints (Just Pay Shipping)!

‘Till Next Time – Keep the Memories Alive!

Keeping Memories Alive, While Saving $!

I love everything about photography: the composition of photos, telling a story, looking back at memories.  Unfortunately, in this digital age, so many people take photos and just sweep through them on their phones!

Scrapbooking is my go-to hobby, along with card-making.  There’s nothing better than giving someone a handmade card or album that you personalized just for them – and with cards running $5-9 a pop, sometimes card making can be cost effective in the long run (depending on how many papercrafting supplies you purchase!)… I could talk about craft supplies for days.

Anyway, back to the point.  Scrapbooking isn’t digital. It’s physical evidence, with printed photos, flipping through pages, designed however I desire.  In order to scrapbook, I need to actually PRINT photos.  Even with backup USB’s and backup websites, I still want a guarantee I’ll have those photos forever – and the only way to do that, is to print them!

Printing can be pricy.  But, of course, I save up my photos until there’s a great coupon.  Right now on shutterfly, they are offering $20 off of a $20 purchase (on basically anything – prints, cards, address labels, photo books, photo gifts)!  I made sure my total hit just at the $20 mark.  With tax and shipping, I paid under $10 total for 147 4×6″ photos.  This ended up being cheaper than going to a drug store or big box chain to print them – plus I don’t need to leave my house, and they’re delivered right to my mailbox.  Use code FIRSTGIFT until October 14th at checkout.  Plus, If you spend over $39, there is also free shipping with code SHIP39.

Don’t have a shutterfly account yet? Go sign up.  You’ll automatically get 101 free prints just for signing up.  They offer free, unlimited photo storage, which works as a great back-up system to your phone or computer.

So, next time you are showing photos to your friends and family, don’t hand them your phone, hand them actual photos!
